A great design begins with understanding the project goals and an understanding of the degree of protection.
The model building codes and standards provide the minimum acceptable level of protection. Hinton Engineering can design to these standards or work with the design team to determine where additional protection may be desired based on a risk assessment. A risk assessment can be provided based on analysis of hazards, estimated likelihood of occurrence, and an assessment of those factors.
The role that plan review plays in compliance is an important one. Projects that begin with accurate, complete, and compliant plans minimize the risk of construction issues. Hinton Engineering provides a thorough and complete review and can assist in resolution of compliance issues.

Hazardous materials present challenges to code compliance. Hinton Engineering provides consulting and plan review to ensure code compliance and proper storage and use of hazardous material.
We can also assist in resolving issues related to Fire Department Notice of Violations. Resolution typically is through research of code issues, investigation of building permits, and proper classification of materials and processes. If necessary, Hinton Engineering can assist with negotiations with the AHJ on compliance plans.

Inspection and commissioning of fire protection systems is critical to ensure the systems perform in the manner in which they were designed. Many failures of fire protection systems are attributed to improper installations. Future inspections can reveal improper installations and AHJ’s can require that the deficiencies be corrected or a fire watch be established. This can cost the owner a significant amount in construction fees as well as loss of business.
